Commissioner Dan Shoun, Chair
Lake County Commissioner Dan Shoun took office on January 2, 2007. Current term expires December 31, 2014.
Commissioner Shoun was raised in Prairie City, Oregon and has lived in Paisley, Oregon for over thirty-eight years. His family includes his wife, Noreen, two grown children, one son-in-law and is the proud grandfather of two grandsons.
Before being elected as County Commissioner, Commissioner Shoun served for fourteen years on the Paisley City Counsel. Commissioner Shoun’s primary career background includes thirty-two years with the US Department of Agriculture-Forest Service.
Commissioner Shoun has been actively involved with public land issues at local, State and the National level. He has served as the Public Lands Co-Chair for the Association of Oregon Counties, a Western Interstate Region (NACo) Executive Board Member, NACo Public Lands Board and as the National Commissioner Representative on Wildlife Fire Leadership Counsel.
Commissioner Shoun has also served as a member of the group working to re-authorize Secure Rural School payments to counties and schools. As well as, being involved with State Legislature to find ways to fund our schools.
